ADMIN_CLIENT_SKIP_DOMINO not working on Domino 10?

Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 10:52 PM UTC

I just noticed that the server's notes.ini variable

ADMIN_CLIENT_SKIP_DOMINO=1

seems not work with Domino 10 anymore. I tested on V10.0.1 and the setting is defined in a configuration document. Maybe someone from HCL can confirm this issue and create an internal "case"?

Update: It seems to be Linux only, Domino 10.0.1 on Windows acts as expected.

For all who are not aware of this setting: in older versions this prevents the Admin client from loading/scanning all the useless files that are not NSF or NTF files when opening the files tab. This speeds up the user experience when working with the files section in the Admin client. Try it for yourself. Any feedback is appreciated.

The admin_client_skip_domino is a server side notes.ini (although if you apply it to the client it will affect the "Local" server).  I went and tried on 2 10.0FP1 linux boxes and it worked correctly.  If not set, it default to being on. You would have to explicitly set it to 0 to have the Domino directory appear.  A server restart is required when changing it.

Works for me by default in Domino 10.0.1 without the parameter.

The "domino" directory and all directories below are not shown in the admin client files tab.

Doesn't look like a general issue on Linux. I have tested with CentOS.

Paul,

I can confirm that the Windows version behaves like expected, so it's Linux only

I wonder if it's a Linux issue. I'm running Windows 10.0.1 server with ADMIN_CLIENT_SKIP_DOMINO=1 on the server. I had to expand the status bar to show 100 lines, but it's not logging that it's looking in the domino folder for files and performance is quick.

Friedhelm,

if this is a planned behavior then my system does not act like it. I use a 10.0.1 Admin client with a 10.0.1 server running on Linux - and the scan takes place. Do you have a technote where it is said that this will be obsolete in 10.0.1?

Admin_client_skip_Domino should be obsolete in Domino 10, on my test machine the Domino subdir scan is ommitted by default.

Isn't Admin_client_skip_domino a Notes.ini setting used in the Notes Admin client?
